Conference program

Rationale

This three days conference will include an opening session, a closing session and three consecutive thematic sessions which focus on three main drought issues:

  • (1) Past, present and future of droughts;
  • (2) Drought indicators, monitoring and forecasting;
  • (3) Drought preparedness and mitigation options.

Up to now, we have accepted and scheduled 88 contributions from several countries in Europe as well as from USA, Canada, Mexico, Chile, Brazil, Argentina, Iran, Australia, Japan, China. 73 of them have been gathered in a circa 450 pages book that will be published by CRC/Balkema and handed to the participants the first day of the conference.

The fourth day will be devoted to a technical visit to infrastructures and environmental spots of the Jucar and Turia basins.

On Wednesday 11 March, a special session will be devoted to the 4th pan-European Drought Dialogue Forum.
